The National Crafts Council operates the Master Craftsmen Training scheme with a view to preserving traditional handicrafts by introducing them to the young generation, directing unemployed persons to self-employments in the field of handicraft and thereby promoting their social-economic status.
Under this programme, the well practiced craftsmen of each of the field of handicraft are chosen as Master Craftsmen and under them the knowledge of traditional handicrafts is provided to the apprentices and each of such training class is conducted as full time courses running for 06 to 12 months.
